KidGig ("we," "our," "us") connects local kids and teens with neighbors who need small jobs done (yard work, pet sitting, tutoring, and similar tasks). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the KidGig mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have.
KidGig is intended for two types of accounts: Customers, who must be adults, and Kids, who must be between 13 and 17 years old. KidGig does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and account creation is blocked for anyone who reports an age under 13.
| Category | Examples | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Account information | Email address, display name, account type (customer/kid) | To create and secure your account |
| Profile information | Age (kids only), zip code, skills, bio | To match kids with nearby jobs and let customers evaluate applicants |
| Job & application data | Jobs posted, applications submitted, job status, ratings and review comments | To operate the core marketplace and build trust between users |
| Messages | Chat messages between a customer and the kid accepted for their job | To let the two parties coordinate a job |
| Payment information | Job payment amount, payment status | Card numbers are collected and processed directly by Stripe, our payment processor — KidGig never receives or stores your full card number |
| Payout contact information | A parent/guardian's Venmo or Zelle-linked phone number | So KidGig can manually forward a kid's earnings to their parent/guardian |
| Device & push notification data | A device token used to deliver push notifications | To notify you about job updates, messages, and payments |
| Safety reports | Reports you file about another user, and block relationships you create | To review conduct and keep the platform safe |
When a customer pays for a completed job, the full amount is charged via Stripe and deposited into KidGig's own business account — not directly to the kid. KidGig then manually sends the kid's share (currently 80% of the job amount) to the parent/guardian's Venmo or Zelle account using the phone number they provided, and retains the remainder as a platform fee. KidGig does not store your payment card details; Stripe handles and secures that information under its own privacy policy and PCI-DSS compliance obligations.
We share information only as needed to operate the app:
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
In-app messages are visible only to the two participants on a given job (and, for safety and moderation purposes, to KidGig admins if a report is filed). You can block another user, which prevents them from sending you further messages, and you can report a user for review by our team.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account), which removes your profile and cascades to delete your jobs, applications, messages, and ratings tied to your account.
KidGig is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. Kid accounts (ages 13–17) are intended to be used with a parent or guardian's awareness, particularly regarding payment arrangements, which are always routed through a parent/guardian's Venmo or Zelle account, never directly to a minor.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of KidGig after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
